Freddy Prinze Jr, Hackey Sack Hottie – McCaffrey’s Movie Classics

Here’s a clip from the 1999 Freddie Prinze Jr. teen film ‘She’s All That’. This clip has so many strikes against it. Strike 1-It features Freddie Prinze Jr. Strike 2-It’s from the movie ‘She’s All That’. If you don’t remember ‘She’s All That’ it’s about a popular douchebag who bets another popular douchebag that he can turn the ugliest girl in school into prom queen. And who is the ugliest girl in school? That’s right, it’s the girl that is not at all ugly. So basically this movie was telling its insecure adolescent female audience that even if you’re hot you’re ugly. Nice.

Watching this brings back horrible Vietnam level flashbacks of when Freddie Prinze Jr. was the ‘it’ boy of the time. I never quite understood his appeal. I think the main problem I had with him was that he sucks. I suppose he wasn’t all that bad but for some reason whenever I saw him I always wished he could be more like his father. (sorry) In this clip he pretentiously pontificates about one of those timeless teenage problems; not letting a hacky sack touch the floor. In the scene his character is making a poem up as he goes along and tricks the audience into thinking he has talent. Could there be any better metaphor for Freddie Prinze Jr.’s film career?
